Ready to clean up and get prepared for the warmer weather? Here are steps to clean up your yard for spring:
1. Prune away dead and damaged branches off trees, shrubs and grasses. Safely using a small handsaw or clippers, trim away the damaged parts of the plant to make room for sunlight to reach the healthy parts of the plant.
2. Clean up around plants. Rake out fallen leaves and dead foliage from around your plants. If you plan to plant bulbs, now is the time to put down fertilizer.
3. Prep damaged lawn areas for plantings. Grass may not grow back fully until April. Now is a great time to test the soil's pH levels so you can make sure it is healthy. You may pick up the pH soil testing kits at any home improvement store. If you soil needs some TLC you're able to work in some compost and fertilizer.
4. Clean hardscape surfaces. With any salt laid down during winter walkways and paths are not looking great. Sweep them up and power wash to make sure they look great for spring!
