Trees and shrubs can be disfigured and killed by road salt if they are planted or sit too close to the roads during the winter time. A couple of signs to look out for damage are the following:
1. Look for clusters of twigs growing out of branch ends on deciduous trees, yellow tips on evergreen needles.
2. Look for leaf scorch on deciduous trees, and yellow, brown, or fallen needles on evergreens–especially on the side toward the road.
We will be posting a follow up blog on how to try to prevent these damages in the future. Be sure to contact us for any questions you may have during the winter!
