Some of the early blooms in late winter into early spring are flowers called Common Snowdrops. These plants look like tough grass at first as they bloom through frozen ground, but the leaf tips are created to withstand the harden ground. Once bloomed the flowers hang loose and low to mimic drops of snow as the flowers are white in color. January-March is typically when you'll see a snowdrop in bloom.
